CAN YOU HELP ME?
I HAVE A FRIENDS MOTHERS WHEELCHAIR
IT NEEDS THE X BAR (CROSS BAR) LUBERCATED
THE CHAIR IS VERY HARD TO OPEN
I CAN'T SEEM TO FIND ANYONE THAT KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT THIS
I BORROWED THE CHAIR FOR MY 84YR YOUNG MOTHER A FEW DAYS AGO
BECAUSE MY SISTER CAME FROM OUT OF TOWN AND WANTED TO TAKE HER SHOPPING FOR THE HOLIDAYS
AFTER A LONG STRUGGLE THE CHAIR FINALLY GOT OPENED
AFTER GETTING IT BACK HOME I TRIED AND IT WOULD NOT OPEN
I CONTACTED MY FRIEND AND HE TOO HAS PROBLEMS WITH IT
IT IS NOT A OLD CHAIR
IT IS NOW CLOSED AGAIN AND I WOULD VERY MUCH LIKE TO REMEDY THIS PROBLEM FOR MY FRIEND
HIS MOTHER IS ALSO AROUND 84 AND ONCE IN A WHILE USES A CHAIR

You have answered your own question. If this is for real, then just lube it. Even a drop of cooking oil will work.

THANK YOU
I JUST DO NOT WANT TO TAKE ANY CHANCES AND MESS ANYTHING UP
(THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT I EVEN WENT TO ONE OF THESE TYPE OF WEB SITES TO ASK ANYONE)
I MUST SAY THAT I'M VERY SURPRISED THAT ANYONE WOULD BE ASKING IF THIS IS A REAL QUESTION, ESPECIALLY DEALING WITH ANYTHING AS IMPORTANT AS A WHEELCHAIR
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ANSWER

If you are not familiar with web boards like this one there is a learning curve at to how they work. For example, recently there has been an increase in 'fake' posts. Why, who knows, but some people just like to post things to get a response. We call them trolls. Since they are trolling for a response.

Anyway, if you do lube the chair, look for anyplace that pivots during the opening and closing process and add a drop or two of oil there. You really can't mess this up b lubricating it other than using too much oil that makes a mess.

beers1 had some informed answers back on the general household forum. one of the last wheelchairs I stashed in somebody's trunk was full of moly grease, wrecked a $20 shirt (glad I took my suit coat off Wink. never saw that when I moved chairs out of my way as a hospital maintenance assistant, but that was so long ago there were 21 letters in the alphabet.

sig: if this is a new economy, how come they still want my old-fashioned money?

Glad you got it figured out. Welcome to the boards.

I think somebody mentioned this in another thread but since you did say this was your first foray into message boards I'll repeat here:

Try not to use ALL CAPS when you post. In message board speak, this is considered yelling.
