My deck is about 14 years old. When we moved in the house was 7 years old. We have been here for about 7 years. It is treated lumber and has never been stained(I assume). No maintenance from me or the previous owner. I am re-doing it. The only original part I am keeping is the "floor." I have scrubbed it twice with simple green. The first time 1:10 the second time 1:1. It removed about 75% of the green. I then used deck wash http://www.lowes.com/pd_473421...ollar%7C1&facetInfo= and it didn't do much at all. I don't have a pressure washer and don't mind scrubbing. On the top of the deck it looks great with just a few spots, but underneath it is a different story. Do I just keep scrubbing or is there a better solution???? If I scratch it with my nail the green comes off. Also I am staining with a solid color.

Rent a pressure washer, depending on the size of the deck, you'll need it for much less than an hour.

The PW will get all the green mold off and prep the surface for the new stain.
