I have a screen room that is made of pressure treated wood and I would like to paint the inside with exterior deck paint, but my husband has people telling him it would be stupid to paint that we should stain. I really want to paint over the wood, it's not high quality or pretty wood and I want to lighten up the look in the screen room. I am just trying to get some advice because now the whole prodject is at a stand still.
Painting pressure treated wood is not a good idea. Staining is always a better option. Stain comes in colors, not is a paint kind of way, but different that you may think of stain. If you paint it will scuff off in a short time and not look good.
You won't know if you can do something if you don't try.
Stain can now be tinted any color you want it to be. Stain faids it does not peel off and have to be sanded. I use Baur soild stains. I work on a lot of 100 plus year old houses and have even replaced wooden siding in the middle of walls and stain instead of painted the wood and no one knows it's stain and not paint.

Thanks everyone for your advice, I appreciate it. I went to Lowe's this weekend and talked to them about this and they showed me the tinted stain and I think that's what's we'll go with as it will make both of us happy.
