I have done a lot of painting but one thing always has been a puzzle to me. When painting a door an accent color, do you just paint the surface or do you paint the part of the door that sits against the jam???

Hi lcmdj,

Open the door and paint the whole face of the door which faces out. Depending on the trim around the door, it may be painted too if the door is an accent colour compared to the walls. This accent may look attractive on the trim around the door as well as the door. Much depends on the colour of the paint on both. If in doubt ask the owner.
