The house I purchase last year has a good roof but it is very badly stained with I don't know what because there are no trees close by. The stained roof makes the whole house look bad no matter if I paint it or not and I've been told pressure washing is very bad on the roof. My question: Is there a product I can buy to clean the stains off my roof without damaging the roof?
It's most likly a fungus your seeing. It can be killed but most likly it's just going to reform again. Zinc strips can be added at the top of the roof that wiil keep most of the stains from reforming. The spores travel in the air from one roof to another. If you look around your area at any houses near by you may see it on near by homes. Most new shingles have a midicide in them. If you do a key word search on the net on "roof stains hundreds of sites come up for info and products to remove the stains.

Problem with clorox is that it will kill any plants it touches that may be up against the house. You need to use something a little more "environmentally friendly".
You won't know if you can do something if you don't try.
