M_JInground Pool Decking Problem?!?
We installed an inground pool ten years ago. We had a problem with the concrete pour from the get-go. The trucks were 3 hours late, were to arrive on a 45 min delay, but both came at the same time. The first batch was fine, the second was mixed improperly with too much sand, which we did not know until the following year when the surface started to "flake off". It got bad enough that we ended up taking the top layer off the ENTIRE pool deck to get a consistant rough surface.... thinking we got down through all the loose to reveal solid, we coated with a product called Roller Rock 3 years ago. Still looks great on the good half, but the problem half is still a problem! Still flaking and taking the roller rock surface with it! Most of the problem is around the pool closest to the coping. We are afraid to trust anthing sticking to the bad concrete, so are considering floating a border of the composite deck boards, about 4 boards wide, lagging into the concrete itself with tapcons. Has anyone had any experience with laying these directly on top of concrete? Any suggestions would be very helpful!!

joecaptionNot a great plan for several reasons.
Any composite I've worked with can not be installed any place where there's less then 12" of air space below it to prevent it from molding.
The PVC in the composite expands and contracts that it can cause the screws to work loose and pull out.

M_JThank you for the input... do you have any suggestions for other options based on what we are dealing with?
