My wife has posed and interesting project. We would like to contain our dogs on the patio to protect the yard/plants. The patio is 10' wide. She would like a sliding gate to allow access to the yard and to their outdoor pen to allow maximum access. This would be a low profile, approx 36" tall fence/gate. Any design suggestions/ideas would be appreciated.

let's see... keep the dogs on the patio to keep them out of the yard. yet gate it so they can go into the yard. I'm thinking a virtual gate made of promises and naptimes works here. -0- assuming there is a need for such things, your chain link fence contractors do sliding gates for truck parks all the time. they set bigger posts, set cup-grooved rollers on bearings in them, and put the welded gates in between. what I would suggest is a larger dog run instead, which you can do yourself, so they get to dig and run and dump away from the plantings. generally dog runs are not anchored into concrete 4 feet deep, so if you have to move the thing, a couple of folks can lift it and move it along. if larger, maybe call in some friends, put some cold ones in a cooler and serve some BBQ when done. sig: if this is a new economy, how come they still want my old-fashioned money?
