Our patio and back downstairs door opens up to a grey retaining wall. Does anyone have suggestions as to what to do with it? I had several ideas to paint it like stone or to do a mural. Please help

First, clean the wall thoroughly. Consider repainting if the color or finish is not consistent after cleaning. After that you have a blank canvas.
Here's one idea. Let each member of the family have a section of the wall to finish as they wish. That way, the wall will look different and it will be a conversation piece when others see it.

Trellis it or create a living wall. Every time you see it you'll be greeted by a lush green wall or an array of beautiful flowers.

Painting a mural is also an option. One of our neighbors who had a lakefront home painted the breakfront wall in a landscape scene. In fact I think I was one of the painters since I was kind of artsy at that time. But that was decades ago and my memory may have enhanced my contribution.
