I want to put a 5/12 roof on my carport to resolve a leak with the current flat roof. The problem is I have an area that will essentially wind up being a flat valley due to the angle at which the carport is attached. How can I add trusses and get the problem area to have a pitch for run off.It doesn't have to be much but it has to have something.Otherwise the water will pool and eventually leak.I definitely want the gable end to face south towards the driveway entrance. Thanks for any help.I've attached a rough sketch for clarity.

My first "knee-jerk-reaction" is that adding a pitched roof to solve a leak in a flat roof is a bit radical. Why is the current flat roof leaking? You will have an issue with a "flat valley" where the two join. If the only fix for your current leaking flat roof is to install a pitched roof, I might give some consideration to simply framing a wall along the front of the car port say 2-3 feet high, and run rafters from there to the back of the car port, and create a wedge of sorts, so that all the rain would run to the back. You could use roll roofing since the pitch would not be that great, and match the siding of the house for the front and along the sides. Others may have additional ideas.

You won't know if you can do something if you don't try.

I would suggest a rubber roof. This is the type that is installed on a lot of commercial buildings with flat roofs. They're pretty dependable for stopping a leak, even where water does pool up. If you go this route, I'd have a professional roofer do the job as it can get messy with the glues they need to use on it, plus installing it wrong could result in a still leaking roof and a lot of expense wasted.

Nevermind this post, I had another idea but I see that it won't work after all.

A shed style roof running up onto the old roof until it gets out beond the house then going to a pitched roof will work.
