My lovely neighbors have installed an above ground pool. Along with this pool a deck. When they or anyone else is standing on the deck they can see evey aspect of our backyard...Mind you we have a 6 foot privacy fence but the top hits most of the neighbors about waist high. Any ideas?

Isn't that annoying??!! I've had that situation also. How about some lattice work going high enough, and then a vine type planting that fills in that lattice. Just an idea.

how about a camera tower in your yard? it's their duty to screen themselves, you just need to drop them a subtle hint. tell 'em it's a webcam Wink

sig: if this is a new economy, how come they still want my old-fashioned money?

It depends on how much you want to spend to block them. In some parts of the country you can buy 36" box Phontinia fraserii grown like a tree. Most are grown with about 6' of trunk so the head is above the fence and it grows pretty fast. usually the are about 5-6' wide heads. Plants will also help absorb sound from your neighbor as well. You can use bamboo, but you need to know which variety you are using as some become a hugh problem as they grow out of the intended area.

Hi Joanie,

With no disrespect to TTFWEB or The Lighting Geek, I would NOT recommend the use of bamboo or Phontinia fraserii aka Red Tips. Bamboo can quickly become a pest and spread out of bounds, even when contained with barriers. Photinia can become a fungal nightmare over time and losses it's leaves and drops them everywhere.

I like Do What's suggestion of lattice to add height to your fence. Without knowing where you live, your hardiness zone and the sun conditions it's difficult to recommend specific plants. Consider evergreen shrubs that will screen your yard.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

i disagree with everybody, except the web cam guy.
why should you incure the cost, this is not rite or fair. i think you should talk to your neighbor, adout him installing a lattice fence
on his pool deck. if he is an ass and wont do anything about it.then put a pole with a web cam
on it ,pointed at his pool.you don't have to turn it on,but the threat, might make him spend the money .on his fence
