My son in Marietta, GA has outside wooden steps that are in bad shape. they are the kind that you walk up 6 steps to a landing then another 4 or 5 to landing that goes to door. I am trying to convince him to change or remodel and cost is a factor. Neither one of us is much of a carpenter and we are not sure how to proceed. Either we try to build them or hire someone in the area or see if concrete type steps are available. Course we don't know who to call or where to call for assistance. Any help will be appriciated.

try the local paper, under services offered
you may find some one there,
do you have small local papers, like the green sheet or the thrifty nickel?

Hi flashrtp,

At the site below choose a link that is closest to you. Also look in the yellow pages under concrete products for the items desired.

http://www.thomasnet.com/nsearch.html?cov=GA&heading=95...099643&navsec=relbox

In addition to this site you might use Google and do a search using "precast concrete steps" but adding "+" then type name of the state your son lives in, Ex. "precast concrete steps+georgia". This will bring up all companies in the state as well as show those out of state. When you enter the info "precast concrete steps+georgia" do so without the quotation marks Ex. precast concrete steps+georgia. It will bring up those in the state as well but hopefully some will be near you.

As to building new steps from wood, this could also be done but would require more info about your specific needs to assist you properly. Additionally posting a picture or 2 and posting measurements of the present steps would allow others here to assist you more effectively.

Good Luck!
