I make yard art for different holidays. I use 3/4" plywood. I currently use a primer/sealer on the wood prior to painting it. After it has been painted I was using water based exterior Varathan to seal the wood to protect it against the elements. I have run out of the Varathan and have not been able to find another product to replace it with at a reasonable cost. The Varathan was roughly $50 a gallon. I have check Home Depot, Lowes, and Sherman Williams. No one carries anything for exterior wood. Minwax makes a product called "Helmsman" but I can not find anyone that carries this product either. I need something that dries clear. It can be water or oil base. Any suggestions? Thanks Eric

Might want to add where you live to your post since people here could be from anyplace on the planet, better yet add it to your profile so people do not have to keep asking. I know all my Local box store even my little local hardware store stocks it. joecaption

Eric, try locating a reatiler near you who might carry i: http://www.rustoleum.com/CBGCorporate.asp?sn=lr Apparently it's made by Rustoleum. At the above site, you can search for local retailers who carry Varathane. I think you'll have better luck with smaller hardware stores than the big box ones. Do you make yard art profiles, full bodied animals, whirligigs? This happens to be a favorite interest of mine. This message has been edited. Last edited by: GardenSprite,

You can also try online through that website. Sometimes companies only sell certain products online when they don't sell enough to warrant shipping the product to the stores to try and sell.
