Cool Tools 2012 Holiday Special
Would like to do outdoor christmas snowflake flood lights! Does anyone know where to get material(like the snowflake pattern) or where to find this project. Just love the large snowflake pattern on the house!

I assume you saw this on a show?

I've seen snowflake patterns periodically over the years in woodworking catalogues. You can also make your own snowflake design with the old traditional cutout method using newspaper or something heavier, like parchment paper, then enlarge it to the size you want.

What material was used in the snowflakes you saw? Was it wood, or some type of thick arts and crafts material, or maybe some type of foam with a poster board type outer shell?

Here are instructions for one type of outdoor snowflake:

Here are some other designs that might be inspiring:

Winfield Catalogue has some very nice designs for woodworking:

including snowflakes:

Check out the reindeer and sleigh: http://www.thewinfieldcollection.com/. These are some of my favorites!

You might find more by searching for snowflake woodworking patterns.

has always been one of my favorite magazines for a variety of projects (including scrollsaw designs).

The annual holiday specials typically include many snowflake designs which can be enlarged. Many are scroll saw patterns, but you can eliminate the extensive detail if you don't have a scroll saw. Or if you make the patterns large enough, you can make the filigree cuts with tools other than a scroll saw.
