Hello Everyone,

I’m doing landscaping and want to use one string of rope lights. The problem is that I only have 12 V low-voltage power. Has anyone connected rope lights to a low-voltage, landscape power line? Does some company make an adapter? Does someone make 12V rope lights?

You can get 115v AC rope lights or you can get 12v DC rope lights. Do an internet search and you'll find plenty of each. Here's one 12v: http://www.del-lighting.com/rope_lighting.html

12v rope lights will work on your 12v system, provided your transformer has enough to power it. If not, and you still want to stay with low voltage, then just get 12v rope lights with a dedicated transformer.

Thanks Jaybee for a quick response. I am aware that there are 12V rope lights but I don't know how to hook those up to an existing 12V line I already have in the garden. I don't have a 120V source of power close to plug in a standard transformer. I haven't been able to find any type of connector from the 12V, 2 wire landscape line to a rope light.

Connectors for 12v transformer systems are frequently unique to each manufacturer. The nice thing about 12v lights is that they are a simple 2 wire system - one positive and one negative. Again, the deciding factor to use your existing transformer is if the transformer is powerful enough to power the new rope lights. If so, then it's simple enough to splice into your existing line with the new + & - wires from the rope lights.
