We are restoring an old metal porch glider; the rubber end caps for the legs are long gone. We would wecome any ideas on how to replicate these to protect our porch flooring?

Go to ace hardware. They have all kinds of weird stuff like that. Also, Rockler might have them.

PVC caps might work too with a little silicon sealer to hold them on. They come in a variety of sized too.

Any boating supply also has them. If you go to the hardware store there called cane tips.
Make sure to also pick up a stainless steel washer aslo that just fits inside the tip so the steel leg does not just act like a cookie cutter.

a variety of sizes of cane and crutch tips are at your local pharmacy to fit over the pipe. they're vinyl rubber, and ozone will degrade them in a few years.

the tap-in protectors from hardware stores or the occasional home center overpriced hardware box should last longer in black plastic.

I like Joe's idea of a washer to protect against pipe edge cuts for overfit tips.

sig: if this is a new economy, how come they still want my old-fashioned money?

Thanks for the input; I should have been more specific, the legs are "L" shaped, I need the caps to fit this, not round like a cane.

Look in the storage area (where the shelves are) in Lowes or HD. They sell end caps for wire shelving in an L shape made of plastic. One of them may just fit. You may have to drill through and add a stanless steel machine screw washer and an elastic stop nut to keep it on.
