I just turned my sprinkler on for the first time since I had it winterized last fall. I opened the ball valve in the basement to turn the water on.....came upstairs and one of my 8 zones was spraying water. I assume there must be a check valve stuck open in that zone but really have no idea what I'm doing. Any help would be a great help....Thanks.

there should be some access panels in the yard that provide access to the piping and valves. find the one with noise underneath it, and tap the valve with a piece of wood.

if you're lucky, it will seat.

if not, stick a flag by it, you know which one has to be replaced.

to do that, the water must be off and depressurized, the power to the controller off, and then you can replace the valve.

sig: if this is a new economy, how come they still want my old-fashioned money?

Thanks for the help....I'll give it a shot. I opened up one of the covers in the yard and found what I assume to be two round check valve things. I tapped them a little with a screw-driver. It didn't seem to help. I'm sure they just unscrew and you slap another one in. I just hate the thought of calling out the irrgation company and paying them a $150 bucks for a $10 part I can get on e-bay.

It's an electric system. The controls are located in the garage. I think it's 4-6 years old.....I have the paperwork somewhere. We've lived in the house for 2 yrs.
