Hi, I have an electric garage door opener that doesn't work when it gets below about 55 degrees. So here in the cold midwest winters I have to leave it unlocked to open it by hand or go around into the garage and unlock it and raise it up by hand. The light comes on when I use the opener but it just clicks.
Any ideas? I'd hate replace the whole thing only to have it happen again like some sort of electrical issue. The garage is detached and the electrical is buried in conduit from what I can tell. The line is an outdoor rated cable too.
The light and the clicking indicates that the GDO is recording an obstruction in the sensor beams. This is a long shot but maybe the sensors are just barely in line - the cold temperatures causes a contraction in the tracks which moves the sensors out of alignment. Try readjusting the two sensors at the base of the tracks to see if this is the problem.
