I’m trying to bust this step up because it started to break down and is unsafe. I don’t want to use a Jack
Hammer because the structure it is attached to may get damaged from the vibration and cause a bigger
problem. I’m using this grinder with masonry disks to cut lines then the chisel and hammer to break it
apart.
Issues: 1. The masonry cutting disk are $2.00 each and they are only good for about a 1 ½ foot cut.
Lots of dust too.
2. Method is very slow after two hours of work I barely made any progress.

Does anyone have a solution that I can try that is safe and affordable.

Finally this is a picture of the steps I'm trying to break up and remove.

Buy one diamond tipped masonry blade for your side grinder. It will cut a hundred times as fast as the type you are now using and will last a long, long time. It may cost a little more up front, but not more than all the blades you are using.

On edit to add: I just took a closer look at all your pics - get a big sledge hammer and beat the crap out of the steps. The concrete steps are a separate unit from the brick porch. Even if they are pinned to the brick it's not going to be enough damage the brick. Unless you miss your swing and hit the brick, it will be fine.

Or rent an electric jack hammer.
Home Depot has them for rent. The bigger one you rent the faster it will go.
Trying to do this with just a maul and a brick chisle will turn out to be a retirement project.

Thank you for all the advice. I’ll take advantage of it. Believe me I don’t want this to turn into a project that last all summer. I have learned that sometimes it is better to spend the money up front and know what tools I need to invest in. I’m on it and again thank you.
