I have a beach front home that we are replacing vinyl with Hardie board, I am confused on the proper nailing technique. Face nail or blind nail with 6d SS or 8d SS nails? I assume since beach front, face nail with 8d. I have heard something about 2 nails, does that mean 1 blind and 1 face? Thanks for your help. Also, does anyone know about the NC regs on siding.

Typically, "regs" or "code" on any product installation is compliance with the manufacturers instructions.

I suggest you go to jameshardie.com and download their instructions for your area. They also have a help line that will answer any other questions you have.

Their instructions are straightforward so you should have no problem. Just read them carefully because they are concise and packed with information and it is easy to skip over something important.

You'll soon see if your going to try nailing it up by hand nailing it's a real pain.
Look into buying a Bostich pneumatic siding nailer. If you go on the Amazon.com web site and do a key word search on James Hardee you'll also find a gage that's used for setting the exposure lines. Using one of these makes it possible to install it with one man (but I suggest using two people).
I bought the Bostich brand because of all the good reports I saw on the site.
