I have tried to be the DIY man for my son to be bride. So I have started all of her projects from having a garage built to outdoor kitchen to installing rocks and bushes. Today was to remove the pavers from the existing driveway to re-purpose them for a walkway from the road to the back yard. I'm finally finished removing the pavers and now I think that I'm truly way over my head. I'm hoping that I can have these projects completed before 10 August 2012 because my wedding day is the 11th. I'm not sure how to contact the DIY staff, but I'm in desperate need of help from them. I think that I've watched DIY too much because I've tried to do projects from most of the different shows. Can you help DIY network.....

First off - This is a forum of DIYers and is only loosely monitored by DIY. To get on a DIY show you need to go to the DIY home page, find the show you are wanting and click on the "Be on DIY" link.

But that will not solve your problem either. The chances of getting on a show are such a long shot that it's almost odds like winning the lottery. Casting is backwards from what most people expect - It's not that you are in such desperate need for a fix that a show will want to come to your house but rather the show has a need for a particular type of project or homeowner personality - they are looking for something and only if you fit will you be considered.

Finally, TV shows take a looooooooooooong time to set up. Months, sometimes years. With only two months between now and August it's unlikely to happen even if DIY called you up today to say it's a go.

Far better to change your approach. Recognize your abilities and plan your projects to fit. Start with smaller projects and build up to bigger ones as your skills improve. Recognize that sometimes the best and even cheapest way to do a project is to hire it out to the pros. If you really want to do a larger DIY project that may be over your head, find some friends who may have more experience and tackle it as a group. All far more successful methods than hoping for a TV show to bail you out.

Thank you Jaybee... that is pretty much what I expected, but just like the chance on the projects that I've selected to take on , I couldn't do anything else but take a chance on looking for DIY for assistance on the backyard makeover. that's pretty quick action on gutting the paver driveway. raises a question of what's going to replace them, but... .

since you mention many projects, better prioritize them as to what is most important right now. have you, perhaps, a half-done kitchen or bathroom. bad karma. those are absolutely the top of the list. your little lady is going right back out the front door if those two areas are campground-grade.

there will be some receptions and parties you can expect. what do the main areas of the house look like? dumpsters? also really really bad impression. those come next.

any safety issues that spilled over from those areas have to be done right quicklike.

then you can start wondering what your English gardens in the back yard are like.

oh, and that open-sand driveway... at least rake some pea-gravel over it so your base doesn't turn into a dirt-bike track the first rain.
