HELP!
I built a firepit using the directions on DIY, It looks great except that when I used a wet paint brush to smooth the mortor between the stones it stained the stone a light grey the color of the mortor. Is there a way to clean that off so the color of the natural stone comes through?

I would try a wire brush and a lot of elbow grease.

There are acids that will greatly help with the removal, but can also affect the colors in natural stone, so choosing the best one is the trick. You may be best off calling a stone supplier and asking what they would use on your particular stone?

Muriatic acid. Make sure to wear rubber gloves and goggles.
