We are remodling our house and have a few questions on instulation. 1. Use a vapour barrier instulation, or 2. Use a non vapour barrier instulation and then use a poly vapour barrier on the exterior walls (on the inside of the house/room)? What method would be best to use in Louisiana? Would we use a vapour barrier on the ceiling instulation?

i would choose option #2 how we do in mississippi

Your location matters greatly. With the high humidity in Louisiana and mainly AC load vs heating load in the north the designs are different. This is a good location to look at the preferred design based on your region. http://www.buildingscience.com...work/dtw-house-plans http://www.buildingscience.com...view?searchterm=hot+ General Disclaimer Any advice given here is general in nature and is not necessarily valid for your given area. If in doubt check with your local codes enforcement department for what is required when doing electrical, plumbing or structural work on your house. Permits may or may not be required in your area and home owners may not be able to DIY some tasks. I have no way of knowing if you have the skills needed to complete the tasks you are asking about, when in doubt seek professional assistance. My advice may be worth exactly what you pay me for it. :-) For the record I did not stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

my skills are good. I will leave electrical and plumbing to the pros, but I can do all the instulation and sheetrock. I have downloaded the pdf's and will read them to see what we need to do. thanks for the information.
