Below is a link which might offer advice on what you might do to achieve the desired results with your painted surface. It is likely that what you have painted thus far will need a light sanding to smooth out the surface, then a good cleaning before you apply a new coat, otherwise that new coat will follow the ridges already created.
Also over-brushing. Put the paint on and leave it alone. It will self-level when wet, but will create ridges if you keep brushing it when it has started to dry. This does not take long at all.
