Hi, my dehumidifier needs to be cleaned but I can't get the front cover off. It is a Magic Chef model DH40L
which no manuals can be found online.

So, 5 screws were removed, and the cover comes up over the top where the knob is. I removed the knob but it seems stuck at the bottom. I can't feel any clips. I tried taking a hammer to the bottom to get it to move up, but it is not budging. I don't want to break it. Do you have this type and do you know how to get the cover off? What could be holding it that tight? I tried a flat head screwdriver to pry a little, but again, I'm afraid I'll break it. I can't see from the back either as to what is preventing me from removing this.

it is likely that there are bent edges on the bottom of the cover that are catching on parts of the machine. spread 'em out and try lifting again. should open wider if you push the steel walls out.

sig: if this is a new economy, how come they still want my old-fashioned money?
