Hello...wondering if anyone knows what the requirement is in Michigan as to height required for ceilings (in basements) in order for it to be considered 'official' finished living area.

i don't know about michigan but mississippi is 7 foot

In NY, it's 7', except for a minimum of 6'4" under support beams.

Why not just call your local building code office. Anyone here is just guessing at what your local codes are.
