The stairs to my basement are in my garage. Would like to build stairs in my house,to the basement but don't know how to even begin. Any ideas. thanks

maybe turn the garage into a living room.
if i were you. i would start with a architect
and a set of blue prints. you are talking about a pretty big job.
or maybe incorperate the stair area into the house with the use of a wall

fodo right on this one. There's going to have to be some flooring joist cut out and reboxed in, wall studs added and lots of codes and math involed to get the run and rise, and width to come out right as well as making sure the head room comes out right. Without looking at it I would guess $3,000 to $5,000 worth of work.
