I am wiring in a new eve light. the only power supply near by is a portch light. I would like the eve light to be constant hot as it has solar sensors while the porch light remains on a swith. Can anyone tell me the correct wiring path to achieve this?

Most likely you cannot tap into the porch light - most are run with the power through the switch, not the fixture. Worth checking ou though -

Check the box behind the porch light fixture, if you just have two wires and a ground, then it only receives power when the porch light switch is on so it will not work vor what you want to do. Like I said above, this is the most likely case.

You'll need to find an outlet or other constant power source - perhaps the switch box for that same porch light. Once you find that, then it's jut a matter of extending your black, white and ground wire to the new light location.

TNcarpenter if your porch light is just above the interior switch but on the exterior wall then you may be able to fish your wire down to the switch and pick up the constant hot and tie it before running through the switch. My OS porch light is just about 2' above my interior switch. I put up can lights on the porch and connected mine that way. Installed a seperate 3 gang box on the interior to control the additional lights other than the two I had in there before.

I would think you would still want to have a switch associated with that eve light. What if you decide one night you don't want it to come on? If it's hardwired to a constant hot source you'll have no way to disable it
