Any suggestions on radiant heating systems that use the aluminum faced underlayment with built-in routing channels for pex tubing? Looking to install in a kitchen and back room. Taping hot water for the system off existing boiler. Thanks for any input or suggestions.
The infloor system you describe works fine. Tapping from the existing system? Depends on where you make the connection for the heat and the return. In order to get an adequate flow through the new floor system you will have to go to where the zones from the rest of the house are located. You'll need a zone valve and thermostat for the new branch. Tappng into the side of an existing zone will require additional valves to balance the flow so you get needed flow through the new branch as well as the existing part.

thats good advice from jdn. i will add a little move. you need to verify which pipe you are teeing off of,supply and return also, you will need to install a air bleed valve ob each line, these need to be installed after the isolation valves, and before the zone valve i like to use a "boiler drain" so that i may attach a hose, to it ,and route hose outside then i can let it run,to exspell air. To get the air out of a loop..make sure zone valve is calling for heat [flow].... close the "return" isolation ball valve, open the "supply" this will force the water/air thru the loop. let it run..you will also have to bleed air off of the rest of system...a trick/tip before draining system ,to cut in tees, close the isolation valves, on the other loops. by doing this..you will trap the water in the zones..making fillup and bleeding of the system easier and quicker ..when finished, drain out 2 gallon of water and add 2 gallons of anti freeze [glycol] so that if your away on vacation, power fails.......your pipes dont burst,
