I had my small bathroom redone, new vinyl floor, cabinets, vanity, and just for fun had them put tile half way up one wall.

I didn't think, realize, how the floor would look with the tile. The tile wall is diamond patterned 6 1/2 inches by 6 1/2 inches, lightish tan color.

The floor is vinyl, dark brown, "tile" look to it, squares, 12 inch by 12 inch.

It just looks odd to me...the dark square pattern butting against the light tan diamond pattern.

Anyway I keep thinking I could just put down some peel and stick flooring over the vinyl? Probably still have the same square pattern (I assume it would be easier than trying to match the diamond pattern?) but at pick out a lighter color to blend in with the tile color better?

        Any ideas, thoughts.

Are there any moldings to provide a break between the floor and the tile?

You already have two more or less permanent materials, so I think before I would do something like add a peel & stick tile (or make any other changes), you might want to experiment with color patterns on the floor to make sure you find something that you feel is compatible.

Is it the point at which the tile and floor meet that seems odd? Or is it a broader view of both?

If you've got solid throw rugs, place them on the bathroom floor up against the wall and see if it creates the type of atmosphere you want.

You could even lay down sheets or fabric if you have any, just to temporarily see what contrasts and what compliments, then make a decision on something more permanent. I think the key first is finding something you like before making changes.

The square vs. diamond pattern doesn't sound unappealing to me, but it's sometimes hard to visualize what it really looks like. If you want to post a photo, it would help.

I am really lame with pictures and computers. It takes me hours to figure out how to post one picture, then of course it took so long I forget how I did it and dread trying to do it again.

I appreciate your reply. I am painting the walls above the tile and think maybe that will help everything look a little better.
