We live in slab home built in 1956. About 3 weeks ago we began losing the hot water to the tub and shower but still have hot water in the sink and also in the kitchen. The hot water heater is in the kitchen 15 to 20 feet from the bathroom. My husband just changed out all the galvanized pipe he could get to to copper and PEX and put on an new faucet. We still aren't getting hot water to the tub and shower. Aside from taking up the floor does anyone have any idea what may be the problem and what we can do before we spend thousands and call a plumber?

Thanks

Galvanized pipes are a menace to when it comes to rusting out inside. They develope so much rust that they can actually 'stop' the flow or severely curtail the water.

Is it possible to get the pex and run it through the walls to the tub and shower? (Pex is so nice and easy to work with).

I think you may want to consult FRODO on this one Smile

hello. you said that you just put in a new faucet in the bathroom shower? you may have trash in the pipping that has made its way to the new faucet. if the new faucet is a ceramic disc type cartridge. it is most likely dirty.
take the valve apart ond clean the cartridge
also..while it is apart. blow thru the spout in the kitchen and verify air/water in the tub
stuff a rag on to the open ended valve and turn on water for 1 second..blow out the line.put it all back togather again. and see if that did it

Thanks for your help. I'm really tired of cold showers. I'll give the info to hubby and have him try it.
