I have a faucet that is hard to operate, it is the hot water faucet. It is hard to turn on, I have had it fixed once and the guy said it was an easy fix, and would not tell me, to keep me from fixing it and not hiring him again I presume. What could be the issue, and how can I fix this myself? Any help would be greatly appreciated. The other faucet does not have this issue.
Since it was something he was able to fix, I would guess that a washer inside has swelled so that it is fitting too tight. To fix, you have to remove the faucet stem (make sure you turn the shut-off valve off first). Once you get the stem out, take a look at any washers that may be there. You don't say what type of faucet this is, but it sounds like a typical one that ha a round, flat rubber washer held on the end of the stem with one bolt. Use the old washer a a guide to find the correct size - home stores sell packs of misc. sized washers.
