We are in the middle of a major project. We have remove the brick fireplace hearth and surround and the livining room carpet and vinyl flooring. We are planning to use ceramic tiles around the fireplace Hearth and surround, install laminate flooring in the living/ dining room and kitchen. A floor guy told us to put the ceramic tile (hearth)directly on top of the laminiate flooring. I want this done right, the first time. I have the backerboard ready to go over the subfloor.

Question:
I need a little help?

Choices:
Place the tile on top of the backerboard that goes directly over the subfloor?
Place the ceramic tile on top of the laminate flooring?

This is a DUPLICATE THREAD and should be removed.

Tile would never ever stay stick to laminite!
Now would be a good time to fire this so called flooring guy if this is the kind of work he does.
