I have a semi circular glass window on top of my main door. I want to make an automatic blind (or something similar) that opens automatically in morning and closes in the evening. I am looking for ideas for materials that can be used to make it. Any references to relevant books, websites, etc. are also welcome.

You'll have to do some searching for this one. For starters, take a look here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwHV-NBVg88 Or Google 'automated arched window blinds" and there will be a lot to see. Some of it will be amazingly expensive but you may find a solution that you can copy and DIY. Jaybee

Jaybee, Cool product, I have no need for it in this house but could have used it in our last one. This message has been edited. If in doubt check with your local codes enforcement department for what is required when doing electrical, plumbing or structural work on your house. Permits may or may not be required in your area and home owners may not be able to DIY some tasks. I have no way of knowing if you have the skills needed to complete the tasks you are asking about, when in doubt seek professional assistance. My advice may be worth exactly what you pay me for it. :-) For the record I did not stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.
