Topic says it all. I know MDF is moisture sensitive but would it be o.k. installed as crown molding if it has a couple coats of paint? Should I just pay the extra money and buy pine? The pine is more almost double the cost.
To further the question, does mdf nail well into place using a backer?
Thanks for any help!

in my exhome, the baseboards were swollen up and needed replacing, after 3 years. they were
mdf..a bathroom, usually has a lot of moisture in the air, and for mdf, thats not good
i personally not use it, use wood
wood is double the price, not really !!
because after you install mdf, then in 3-4 years rip it out and redo it with mdf again
the pine is cheaper,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
it will out last the mdf...
this is just my opinion
