i have to replace a bathroom. the one that is there is heat,light and fan. sge wants to replace it with just vent as she has light over the vanity. is the wiring the same for one as the other? what i mean is does the heat element have a seperate line that may have to be disconected? i believe there are seperate switches. any ideas?

Although some may disagree but I would handle by determining which of the wires goes to the fan. Wirenut and tape the other two wires (heat and light) after removing the old unit. Then hook up the new fan only model with the wire that controlled the old fan unit from the switch along with the neutral. But you will still have the 3 gang box in the wall with all the switches unless you take out and replace with a single switch.

redoverfarms idea is ok if the wires are put into a box with a cover on it.

is there a window in your bathroom? no i am not a peeper!!!! if you have an operable window in a bathroom, then by code you don't have to have a fan.

yes there is window. but she wants to keep the fan anyway, but dosen't need the heat.
