pier and beam foundation setup
I am about to build a house in central Texas.

I can dig down about 16-22" before hitting solid rock. My question is can I pour piers directly on the rock? I was going to drill into the rock and epoxy re-bar in the rock before I pour concrete. any ideas would help. This is a 30 x 50 home

I believe that Jaybee answered your inquiry. I might add that an alternative (if code permits) which is less expensive would be to drill and set your rebar at an angle allowing them to "criss cross" each other above the rock. Tie the two-three together and them pour your piers around them. This fashion prevents the rebar from pulling out of the rock and keeps the foundation in place on the rock. The rebar should be drilled/set at least 8" deep.
