My bathroom faucet has had a slow drip for a while now. Last night I was in my basement and saw that a leak/slow drip started going through the sub-floor into the basement. Could an extended drip in a sink do damage to the pipe to cause a leak in the basement? I can’t pinpoint exactly where it is at this point, it’s a slow drip. The bathroom floor and cabinet is dry. Tonight I have to remove the cabinet to further investigate. If anyone has any tips to fix/figure out the problem please let me know! All help will be appreciated!
you can figure out if it is waste, by running the water in the bowl, and look down stairs at the same time. you have pictures you can post? so we can see it?

No I dont have pics....Sorry! It's just a slow drip in the basement. When I shut the water off to the sink it stopped. So with that said I know it is coming from the sink but now I think I need to remove the cabinet to access the plumbing below. The floor joist are accessible from the basement but it is above the floor joist and below the cabinet.....I think!
to remove the cabinet, without taking the valves off. the chrome esction that is on the pipe can be removed by cutting it with a pair of tin snips. then remove the handle from the valve. this might help you
