I wanted to know if anyone has ever heard of a ceiling fan having a cord that you could plug into a light socket. I lived in a mobile home in Florida that had a fan like this or the patio. I wanted to know because I live in an apartment with no light fixtures on the ceiling, so I can't install a regular one. Is it possible that they do exist or could you possibly create one? I'm not really handy but I think I could work it out with some help.

Question:
Is there such a thing as a corded ceiling fan?

Choices:
If not, could one be created?
If so, where do I find one?

It's best if you ask your question as a discussion not a poll. A poll is for a yes or no question.
Yes you could make any fan connect up with a cord but it should not be done unless there's something strong to attach the fan box to. If not you just distory the ceiling and the fan will fall down.

Does anyone know how to wire a cord to a ceiling fan? I'm sorry if I didn't ask in the right forum (I was told I should have gone to a message board instead). Does anyone know where I can find out the info for the wiring job? I'm not very handy, I can do some things but with wiring I really don't want to mess up. Also, how can I create a steady base to hang it? Thanks

HD and Lowes offer classes for this. Take one, and then decide if you are up to this. It all depends on your ceiling and what is there now.
