I've decided to go with either Brazilian Teak or Brazilian Mesquite. Both cost about $6 per square foot (yay Lumber Liquidators!) in 3/4" thickness, but both are a LOT cheaper in 3/8" thickness. Can someone help me understand what I'm sacrificing if I go with the thinner wood? Anyone have experience with both? This is going into a $132k/60yr-old house, so part of me thinks I should get the cheaper wood simply because we'll only be there for 5 or 6 years at the most.

Thoughts?

the 3/8" is designed for glue down or nail down, the 3/4 is nail down only. I just set some brazilian cherry 3/4, all nail down over concrete as per proper ( also from Lumber Liquidators ), price was about 2.45 sq ft.
