I have a wall of mirrors that I want gone. Actually the place I want to buy has many walls of mirrors. Removing them would be time consuming, difficult and somewhat dangerous. Any reason I couldn't glue up drywall to the mirrors then tape/mud? I realize I couldn't hang pictures but any other reason not to do this?
put painters' tape over the mirrors, then try and yank 'em. if they don't come, you are way ahead to remove mirrors, drywall, and all and then install new drywall.

Attach carpet protector to the glass then remove it. The carpet protector is self sticking and will keep the glass from flying all over the place. Horrable Idea to drywall over it.This message has been edited. Last edited by: joecaption,

The mirrors are floor to ceiling and wall to wall so I won't be able to get any tool behind them to pry which means they'll have to be broken. Is there a cutting wheel I could attach to my rotozip that would cut the glass into reasonably sized pieces?
Post a picture so we do not have to keep guessing. For someone to have install all that glass they had to be hiding something behind those walls or have been pretty vain. Goggles, leather gloves, a maul and go to town.

if you don't want to save any of the mirrors put a heave layer ofvery wet newspaper on the glass cover with a vinyl sheet and brake the glass. dispose of it in the sheet.make sure you have safety glasses to protect your eyes.
No, talk to any glass company. My understanding is that large mirrors in hotel bathrooms are removed and reinstalled all the time. And, we're talking 10 foot wide mirrors here.
My guess would be that if you applied steady prying pressure to one edge if the mirror, it would gradually come off in one piece. But talk to a glass company. You may be able to slavage those mirrors and even sell them.

If you got one off in whatever manner you can, you could then attempt to salvage the rest. You can use a wire saw behind the mirror to cut through the glue. But before doing this much work, check craigslist to see if the mirrors will actually sell.
Not sure how it works in your area, but around here a used mirror would sell about as fast as used toilet paper. I've had tons of them left over from jobs. I posted them on Craigs list for free, just come pick them up. Never happened, even offered them to my local glass shop and they did not want them.
