I am going to install recessed lighting in my kitchen. I live in a ranch style house so above the kitchen drywall is the insulation. When I install the new construction recessed lights (I am replacing all the drywall) will I have to worry about the existing insulation being around the high hat lights as a fire hazard? If so, what are the proper steps to install the lighting with the insulation there? Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

Buy recessed light that are I C rated. This means in contact, and you can keep the insulation right next to the can.

another trick if your don't have the height for the c1 cans is to use rock wool insulation on top of the cans. it comes in bats, just drap over them.it is a fire proof insulation
