        Hello everyone!

I recently moved into an old apartment and the biggest eye sore in the whole place is the peeling paint of the bathroom tiles. Because it is an old apartment and on the lower side of rent, the landlords decided to paint over the old tiles instead of installing new ones. I would just like to paint over them. Do you have any recommendations for how I should go about it, a good paint to use, or another solution to my problem? Thanks for any advice!

        Hello Stephanie,

First I would change your screen name to just your first name. You've given people a lot of personal information on a public board.

Now with respect to your tiles, if your landlord is OK with you doing the work I'd think you'd need to get rid of the old paint, being tile you can probably scrape it off quite easily with a straight edge razor blade scraper.

Once you get it clean here is a decent article on the subject:

        General Disclaimer

Any advice given here is general in nature and is not necessarily valid for your given area. If in doubt check with your local codes enforcement department for what is required when doing electrical, plumbing or structural work on your house. Permits may or may not be required in your area and home owners may not be able to DIY some tasks. I have no way of knowing if you have the skills needed to complete the tasks you are asking about, when in doubt seek professional assistance.

My advice may be worth exactly what you pay me for it. :-) For the record I did not stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.
