I saw on DIY Network last night a tool being used to secure the sub-floor to the joices under carpet to stop the "creaking floor". It was a tripod piece that you shot screws through with a drill. You then used the tool to break off the screws in the sub-floor.... pretty neat. I went to Home Depot today to buy the tool and screws, but they had never heard of it. Does anyone know where I can buy this tool? I have several squeeky floors that I want to silence!

Without pulling the carpet back how are you suppost to know where the joist even are? Also how is a screw with no head going to hold anything down for long?
A far better way is to roll the carpet back and using ceramic coated deck screws and an impact screw gun to screw it down.

The kit uses a special long smooth shanked screw/tool to locate the floor joists.....
