I want to put in a new one piece tub?surround. I have taken down all the tile, grout, sheetrock, everything down to the studs. My problem now is, I can not get the drain out! Nothing but the drain is connecting the tub to my house!! I want to do the very least with the actual pipes! Any suggestions to relaesing that drain?

they are always a pain. have you opened the wall, behind the tub heade, the wall where the valve is? if you look in there, you will see the
waste an overflow. its the pipes connected to your tup. cut the pipe, that is attached to the tub. you will be replacing this anyway. i certinly would replace the waste anover flow. with a new tub.is the tub cast iron? if it is ,then cut it in half with a sledge hammer.
it weighs about 275 lb bust it up.

You'll soon see there's not going to be a way that a one piece tub is going to be able to get through all the doorways. A one piece unit is set in place before the walls go in and all the door jams get installed.
A two piece will work fine, and is 1/2 as heavy.
