Bathrooms are inspected for water drainage, damage, deterioration to floor and walls, proper function of components, active leakage, unusual wear and general state of repair. Bathroom fixtures are run simultaneously to check for adequate water flow and pressure. Fixtures are tested using normal operating controls.

Vent fans and their ductwork are tested for their proper operation and examined where visible. Shower pans are visually checked for leakage, but leaks often do not show except when the shower is in actual use. Determining whether shower pans, tub/shower surrounds are watertight is beyond the scope of this inspection.

It is very important to maintain all grout and caulking in the bath areas. Very or imperfections can allow water to get into the wall or floor areas and cause damage. Proper ongoing maintenance will be require ed in the future.

        Dabney is that you?

        General Disclaimer

Any advice given here is general in nature and is not necessarily valid for your given area. If in doubt check with your local codes enforcement department for what is required when doing electrical, plumbing or structural work on your house. Permits may or may not be required in your area and home owners may not be able to DIY some tasks. I have no way of knowing if you have the skills needed to complete the tasks you are asking about, when in doubt seek professional assistance.

My advice may be worth exactly what you pay me for it. :-) For the record I did not stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

guess the link to buy ads on the site is broken.

or the nut that's holding the mouse is broken.

I've been thinking about the comment made on another post, I think by Sparky617, querying whether these tidbits of basic information are really spam, in that they don't contain links to any commercial site.

I no longer think these character(s) are spammers; I think they're trolls, with posts so basic and insulting that they're designed to insult, provoke and irritate us.

Since someone (Sparky, I think) observed that Dabney was also posting on HGTV forums (and since I've also found a few people I knew from other forums at which we both posted years ago), I've visited a few of the HGTV Forums in the last few weeks and notice that there are many more trolls there than here (and hopefully they'll stay elsewhere).

I think the HGTV forums have more of a feminine flavor, i.e., there are a lot of women posting there; I've only noticed a few male posters. The posts are of a much different tenor than here; there are a lot of posts for very basic advice such as on decorating. Those aren't advice forums per se, as this one is. And this forum is predominantly a male forum.

I think perhaps trolls are attracted to these female forums, for whatever reasons. Maybe they're woman haters?

Some years ago there was a troll who pretended to be a woman and posted on one of the women's forums. After a few posts, it was clear it wasn't a woman, but rather a misogynist who had a real anger problem toward women. The focus of his posts was to berate and insult women.

On other forums, I've seen other trolls who also post with an apparent intent to insult and inflame. Remember Gallnt (sic) Knight?

The Internet provides a forum for all sorts of people to do all sorts of peculiar, irrational and hostile things. I think this latest troll is just another manifestation of an unproductive dysfunctional individual.

And, incidentally, what appears to be direct quotes from other sites may very well be copyright infringement, as most commercial site material is copyrighted. And some of these troll posts seem to include material from commercial sites, albeit of very basic information.

If anyone recognizes the source site, post the link and I'll be glad to report to the webmaster that someone is posting material which may be copyrighted, presumably without permission. The webmaster can find the poster's IP address and take action.

the name was blue, a link. spammy spammy spam spam spam.

this slop comes in waves, lets up a little while, then comes back again. probably either some wanna-be rainmakers trying for sales commissions, or some Snidely Whiplashes trying to steer you to poisoned websites crawling with drive-by trojans to steal your passwords and bank account numbers.

the answer is always the same... unless you know the poster and suspect a legit link, report the weasel and don't click through. anybody posting links with under three dozen posts, fugaddaboutit.
