Okay, so I have a basic 20 amp MWBC circuit running to my shed via 12/3, from a 2 pole 20a breaker inside the house. Right now it just splits from a small disconnect, to a bank of switches for indoor/outdoor lights, intex pool pump, and various outlets.

It there anything wrong with putting a sub small panel just so I can lock it from unauthorized access? Such as, neighbors little children that like to run rampid and play with switches. I usually have a lot of company, and I rather lock off the panel so I don't have anyone messing with the lighting, or turn on the outlet for my table saw.

Not really as a needed, over-current device, but I guess a giant locking switch box.

you could. but why not just put a disconnect switch in the house? 2-pole 20-amp "light switch" and a box and cover is ten-twelve bucks.

it also avoids potential issues in colder climates with whatever sub is on sale. if an indoor only unit, could condense moisture and short out. never a good thing.

a locking service box, the traditional pull-arm with a blade switch inside at point of usage, appears to run over $100 these days.
