got a shallow well and got water coming in from a garden hose hooked to my pump, I would like to get it in side before winter,what are my first steps that I should consider doing?

Inside what? A shed, house.
What do mean by a shallow well? Dug well, driven point, arteshan?
In your area your going to have to run that water line about 4' under ground to keep it from freezing.
Garden hose is not going to cut it.
Is the pump in a heated pump house?
