I know its been said on here how long to wait to paint or stain pressure treated wood, but I cannot remember how long you said..I tried to find it, but couldn't. I put up a new railing and steps for my back porch, and its been about a year, so there is my question,,is it ok now to stain or finish it? Any suggestions on what to use? I want to use something with the least amount of color...thanks so much! And too, the one side, but balisters came lose..so I'm thinking the bottom piece may have warped, so rescrew or glue then put screws in..it's gonna be a pretty tight squeeze..suggestions would be so helpful! Joe, this one's for you, ya know!! haha!

Could have stain it months ago. Make sure to check the weather, it needs to be dry and not rain for about 48 hours. I'd suggest using Cabots or Olymic semi trasparent. Brush it on. Protect the siding. If you have 2 X 2's for balisters, I predrill and use trim head ceramic coated deck screws. joecaption

Pressured wood generally needs a week (at the most) to be ready for staining. What kind of wood stain are you using? Maybe use a semi-transparent stain if you're looking for something with the least amount of color.

I would have to agree w/Joe on type but I think that PT wood needs to dry at least 6 months before appling the stain. The wetter the wood the less the stain will penetrate. Also the time of the year might also dictate when to apply as mid summer is the driest time.
