Ryobi vs others.? Just got the 18 v combo kit . Hammer drill plus screw gun . Batteries and charger. Not needed for everyday use. But use often. I've always have bought brand names, Milwaukee rigid..... But for the price I figured I try them out?
Sounds like you are doing it right with sticking with the brand names. For basic homeowner use, any of the brand name 18v tools will do the job and last a long time.
I don't think there are any perfect cordless out there. The weak point being the batteries. Even L/I batteries are only good for about 200 to 300 charges, after that you are buying a new $100 battery.
Ryobi will work fine.
Battery's are 1/2 the price or less then the other brands, and last just as long or longer.
Pick up one of there impact drivers. I use it for drilling, to drive sockets, and it will drill screws faster and far more of them then any drill will.
