I think i only want a feature wall.
All my furniture is white and i have light coloured floating floorboards
It is a super small room!
I wasnt sure whether to make it girly or just a colour anyone would like so i dont end up hating it later on. Im 17 so a few years off moving out.
I really like red but i dont want it to close in the space, so maybe a turquoise?

You might want to try the decorating boards at HGTV.

The ladies there are more into colors. Generally speaking though, I'd find some bedding that you like, and then pull a color out of the bedding for your accent wall.

Any advice given here is general in nature and is not necessarily valid for your given area. If in doubt check with your local codes enforcement department for what is required when doing electrical, plumbing or structural work on your house. Permits may or may not be required in your area and home owners may not be able to DIY some tasks. I have no way of knowing if you have the skills needed to complete the tasks you are asking about, when in doubt seek professional assistance.

My advice may be worth exactly what you pay me for it. :-) For the record I did not stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

I wouldn't paint a small room in any dark color as it will make the room look smaller.

I would instead accessorize with color, such as a bedspread, pillows and/or curtains or drapes, and possibly some throw rugs if you live in a cold climate and the floors get cold.

If you sew, you can make the pillow covers and change them with the seasons.

The question is what do YOU really want? Do you want a "girly" room? Do you study in the room? If so, dark walls would definitely not be a good idea.

Also, is the room used both as a sleeping room and a social room? Sounds like you have friends over and wonder what colors they might like. In that case, it would be hard to cater your color scheme to everyone who came over, so I'd stick with a neutral colored wall paint and vary the colors with accessories.

That way you could also take the accessories with you when you move out.

With white, you actually have a lot of choices... greens and blues for summer, naturals and warmer colors for winter.

In my age group (many decades older than you), I'm seeing some trend toward a contemporary Victorian color scheme with burgundy, forest green and ivory. It's very soothing but not heavy as the Victorian decorating was.

Sand and sea are also popular themes, especially with white or ivory furniture and walls.
